I  grew up with the breed, in Sao Miguel, Azores.  I myself was looking for a different kind of breed, on my visit  back I decided to import  the Cao De Fila De Sao Miguel. My main purpose was to work beef cattle, but it became much more then that , they are my companions, they are everything that I ever wanted in a dog,  the more time you spend with them the more you learn about them and what they are capable of. 

This breed will do anything to please their master.

I first imported my first FSM in 1997.  I then started breeding in 1999, I have some different bloodlines, from the strong worker to the best companion around.

In owning such a breed you must spend the time with them and get proper training, this is very important at this time, early socialization is very important.  From the day they are born I am already introducing early socialization. 

If you are looking for the working dog type many have that strong nature in them to be the perfect worker,   I my self use them to work cattle some develope that at a very young age but others take more time.  I have seen some ready to work at just a few months of age and others have developed at 8-12 months in age.  This is the all purpose dog, many may not agree but they can be the pet that watches television with you and be ready to work at your command, they are very intelligent

They all have the guarding & protective instinct .
